Krackhard, D. "Informal Networks"

I found this article to be very interesting. This is actually the second time I have read it. We covered it in Organization Behavior last semester. Even though I have not officially become a part of the workforce yet and am only a student, I have to agree with Krackhard's analysis that trust carries a lot of weight when it comes to the productivity of a network system. The figures on p. 107 reveal this concept very well. (The task force leader, Tom Harris, realized that the lack of his team's productivity was due to his weak position in the Trust Network map.) In business many times the most technical expert is given the most credit, the largest workload, or even the most trust to get the job done. But, as we have learn here, the "go to" person needs to be one who everyone trusts, relates to, can bring together conflicting views, focus on main goals, as well as being somewhat of an expert with the material at hand. A good manager might not be the most qualified but he or she needs to do extremely well in these realms.
